Evergreen Public School is a small community school, offering Kindergarten to Grade 6 programming. Although we are small, we provide a solid, well-rounded and enriched education for our students. Kids come first at Evergreen School!
At Evergreen Public School we envision a school where children are valued, as society’s most important trust. It is the goal of every staff member to provide a safe and stimulating environment that fosters responsible learners, intellectual growth and a sense of well-being.
We provide a learning environment in which the children can develop as literate, self-motivated and directed problem solvers, with an awareness of the roles and responsibilities in a changing society.
Evergreen Public School’s kindergarten classrooms are staffed with specialized kindergarten teachers and early childhood educators, who are experts in early childhood development. Self-regulation is of great importance in our kindergarten programs and in the grades to follow. The school offers Indigenous language programming studies for students in Grades 4 to 6.
Our doors are always open for families of our students.

Our Awesome Programs!
Full-Day Kindergarten
Indigenous Second Language
All students at Evergreen receive instruction in Ojibwe language from Grades 4 to 6. We have a Knowledge Keeper who provides some exposure to the language beginning in Kindergarten to Grade 3 and the students love this learning!
Kindergarten On-Ice Learning
A favourite winter highlight for our Kindergarten students is skating at the Evergreen Community Club rink just across the street. It’s great to see students build their skating skills and confidence from Kindergarten through Grade 6. No equipment is needed for your child to take part in this learning experience!
Introductory Ski Skills
With our nature path, surrounding woods, and open field, our students have a wonderful environment to learn the basics of cross-country skiing. Our Kindergarten students are always excited to learn this new winter skill, and the school provides the necessary equipment for participation.
Dedicated Outdoor Learning Spaces
Evergreen students enjoy both a playground and a dedicated outdoor learning space, featuring a fire pit and shaded picnic tables nestled under the trees. In this welcoming setting, students explore, collaborate, and engage with their environment in a naturally curious, inquiry-based way.

Indigenous Learning
Our K-6 students look forward to multiple opportunities to connect with Elders and Knowledge Keepers. Indigenous learning is supported by having several guests share their knowledge with us on a variety of topics. In addition, K-6 students and teachers strive to continue learning through regularly sharing food, stories and experiences in partnership with Kenora Chiefs Advisory and Wauzhushk Onigum First Nation.
